Cottage is situated in the centre of the pretty village of Over Haddon, which perches on the edge of a hilltop overlooking Lathkill Dale. The area is famous for its wildlife, walking and spectacular views which can provide excellent opportunities for photography.
Rose Cottage is a charming yet unusual, traditional mid terrace stone cottage which has been equipped and fully furnished for all your holiday needs. Parts of the cottage date back to the 17th Century and as one would expect full of character, yet with a modern fully equipped kitchen, two bedrooms with separate staircases and two bathrooms, making it ideal for a family of four or two couples.
Over Haddon village has an excellent friendly pub serving bar and restaurant meals with a superb range of local and guest beers. There is also a local farm shop where you can buy home cured meats, sausages, bacon and free range eggs. Within in a short distance you have Youlgrave, Monyash and Ashton on the water where you will find a variety of pubs with varied menus. Close by is the very popular market town of Bakewell the “Capital of the Peak” which has a diverse and comprehensive range of amenities, shops, businesses, restaurants and leisure facilities.
This is the heart of the Derbyshire Peak District at its very best, steeped in history and surrounded by panoramic views. There are miles of footpaths from which to explore the beautiful countryside as well as Lathkill Dale you have Millars Dale, Bradford Dale, Monsall Head, Curbar Edge any many more. Cyclists and walkers alike will enjoy the safe established cycling trails such as the High Peak, Tissington,and Monsall Trail.
Chatsworth House with its stunning gardens and elegant interiors and Haddon Hall which has a fascinating history are very close, there are many other attractions such as Alton Towers, Heights of Abraham and the Blue John mines where a trip under ground in a boat is a must, all within easy reach
